James (Ed) Roberson, CPA joined the firm in December, 1993. Ed is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he majored in accounting and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He became an owner/member of the firm on July 1, 1998. While working for Roberson CPA Firm, PLLC, Ed has acquired experience in accounting, auditing and taxation. He is now the managing member of the firm.
Ed was born in Durham, NC where he attended Northern Durham High School. In December 2008, he married Tracey Morrell. Tracey, Ed and their son, Anson live in Hillsborough. Ed is passionate about offshore fishing. He mostly fishes in Cape Hatteras, NC and North Myrtle Beach, SC. In the summer of 2007, Ed did work necessary to receive his Captain's License. Recently, Ed has picked up beekeeping as a hobby and currently has two hives. He also is a Duke fan and enjoys attending the basketball games with his father.
He is active in the community by serving in the Friendly North State Sertoma Club, as a Board Member of the Duke Blue Devil Club, a member of the adult committee that oversees the operations of Boy Scout Troop 440 at Watts Street Baptist Church and serves as a member of the Durham BB&T Local Advisory Board. Ed and his family are members of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church. He is also a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
When asked about his greatest achievement, Ed is most proud of receiving the rank of Eagle Scout in 1988. He was also awarded Sertoman of the Year in 2005.
